Home is a place where I feel free
Free as a cat with no owner
Free as a bird with no cage
A place where I can be who I want to be
Home is my car where it's mine by right
Mine to share with who I want to share
Mine to do what I need to do
My car is quite as I hope a home to be
It's not a lot but it's enough for me
A me who needs a home
A me who wants to be free
My car is just enough to start that journey
Because it's just for me
WHY FOCUS ON "HOME"?
Home is something that everyone knows but can't really define. Is it where you sleep? Is it where you feel safe? Is it where you can be yourself? Or is it where there is a roof, a couple of doors and windows? Some may say its a little bit of each and certain aspects of each can be the defining factor of what is a "home" to someone, but for me? It's all of them, all in one - my own car! Gotta show off that new ride!
THE PROCESS
I went with a very minimalist approach when designing the zine and poster since I felt that it would best encapsulate how I feel about my car. Abstract forms best describes how it feels to drive - only lines and shapes with no specific form or details. The only inclusion of real world images were of my own cat Luxe and my car's exterior and interior.
The poster follows a similar principle and mindset as the lines imply the roads that I drive through on my drives.
